A group, Concerned Citizens for Good Governance, (CCGG) Kogi state branch, has appealed to the Kogi state government to urgently pay up the unpaid nine months salaries owed social workers. (Cleaners)
The appeal contained in a statement signed by the state coordinator of the group Comrade Shuaibu Osachi Adex said the call became necessary inview of the prevailing threat of the dreaded ” lassa fever”, believed to be caused by unhygienic conditions of the environment.

Comrade Adex, warned that if the sanitary workers are frustrated by lack of payments, the sanitary condition of the society will be exposed to any unexpected epidemics.

The Coordinator who commended the government for its initial commitment to the cleanliness of the environment, however, expressed disappointment over the nonpayment of the sanitary workers.

He said that ” for denying the health workers their entitlements is an invitation to the strange and even common diseases that has become worrisome in many areas the world over. ”

He therefore advised the state government to put up measures that will prevent any form. of epidemics that could enter the state.

Adex said ” a clean environment is a sure safety of the people against all forms of infections. So the government has a responsibility to protect the citizens against infiltration of diseases from within and outside the country or state.

He called for aggressive enlightenment against filthy environment and collective war against environmental abuses, adding that education on personal hygiene is necessary at this time that we are all apprehensive of the unknown epidemics threatening the country and the state.
