As the reposed soul of former Chairman, PDP Kogi West will be committed to mother’s earth today, I reflect on my contact with him and the positive achievements of PDP, Kogi West during his tenure.
I met Bar Kola Ojo in late 2018 when I was in Lokoja to obtain the House of Representative Intent to Contest Form. When we met, I introduced myself and my intention to Contest to him. He was particularly happy to know about my banking/financial background due to the fact that he also served meritoriously in the Central Bank of Nigeria. After this first meeting, we met on several occasions but the particular event I will always remember was the day I was almost 48 hours late to the submission of my Forms and the Party’s Officials still needed to sign before this near impossible task can be achieved. I was a bit worried, thinking about the bureaucratic and likely unholy process I might have to pass before getting the needful done, not forgetting likely co-aspirant’s antics. However, my state of mlnd positively changed as soon as I met Bar Kola Ojo. He did not only collect the Forms from me, he also asked me not to worry myself about signing fees for the State’s Officials. You can’t imagine the gravity of my appreciation after this encounter with him.
PDP Kogi State especially, Western Senatorial District will not forget in a hurry the events that occurred when he was in charge as the Chairman. One in particular was the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly Elections when both the East and Central lost woefully to the ruling party, APC. Against all forms of intimidations, PDP took over and won convincingly in the West. This and others not here mentioned, made Bar Kola Ojo a political icon in PDP, not only in the Zone but the whole State at large.
The ever smiling Bar Kola Ojo will be grately missed by his immediate family, people of Okoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA, Kogi State and the entire PDP’s family world over.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
