Kogi to renew onslaught against kidnapping, other crimes

With recent cases of kidnapping in the state, Kogi State Government has declared its readiness to lead a coordinated fight to chase kidnappers and other criminals out of the state.

This is just as it has directed the state security adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) to ensure the success of the measures, still undisclosed, to free the state from resurgence of kidnapping.

Commissioner for Information and Communication, Honourable Kingsley Fanwo, revealed this while briefing the press on outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held today at the Government House, Lokoja, the state capital and presided over by Governor Yahaya Bello.

There have been cases of kidnapping in parts of the state recently, a development the state government has described as unacceptable following the gains it has made in changing the narrative of insecurity in the state.

According to the Commissioner, is putting measures in place to strengthen the crack security response arrangement known as ” Operation Total Freedom”, through which it intend to smoke the criminals out of the state.

Governor Bello, he maintained, would not rest on it’s oars in its determination to ensure the state is safe and secure, assuring of his commitment to achieve a crime – free Kogi State.


It would be recalled that Governor Bello upon assumption of office in January,2016 confronted head – on the plague of insecurity on the state.

In pursuing this, the government took far reaching, drastic measures to free the state from the pangs of kidnapping and armed robbery which was holding the state down.
