The Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Ayodele Thomas, says he is not resting on his oars in ensuring that the state government lives to its promise of paying teachers cleared by the screening committee in April.
The NUT Chairman made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen, explained that he is doing all that is humanly possible to ensure that teachers recently cleared are paid by government, appealed to the Government to make their promise a reality.
According to Comr. Ayodele, ” the state government made the promise to pay the cleared Teachers in March. Unfortunately, that promise didn’t materialize. We’re expecting that they would live up to their promise and pay by the end of April”.
” I’m not resting too in ensuring that I press the necessary buttons and contacts to ensure that these teachers are paid. Until these teachers are paid, I’ll not have the desired rest.
” Let me use this medium to once again appeal to those concern to ensure that the payment to our teachers is realized. We commend the efforts of the State government and those working on the matter to please put smiles on the faces of these teachers. The teachers have been patient enough and we look forward to expecting that there tears would be wiped away at the end of April”.
Comr. Ayodele commended the patience and perseverance of the teachers, adding that he prays and hope that the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, having shown compassion and zeal regarding teachers welfare, would keep to the promise to pay the cleared teachers at the end of April.
