AN ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE EXECUTIVE
CHAIRMAN OF IJUMU LOCAL GOVERNMENT,
ISA, DURING THE SOLIDARITY VISIT OF APC MEMBERS,
I thank you most sincerely, for finding time to pay me solidarity visits aftermath of my purported and ineffective suspension from our great party by negligible few of the Local Government Caretaker Executive Committee members.
Your various concerns, calls, Votes of Confidence and visits in solidarity with me, are reassuring and a clear testimony of my general acceptability. It is also a confirmation of the faith and trust that the people have in my administration.
This administration was inaugurated immediately after our victory in the Local Council Elections that was held on 12th December,2020. All The candidates of ourgreat party, APC, were returned elected after a
rigorous campaign that preceded the elections.
I make bold to say that for the first time in the history of our Local Government
Area, all the communities in Ijumu are adequately represented in our
government, in a show of magnanimity and inclusiveness. The main purpose of this broad representation is to ensure justice, fairness and equity in thedistribution of positions.
Despite the paucity of funds, the
Local Government in conjunction with the ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs pays all staff salaries, as atwhen due and discharged its statutory responsibilities
according to our oath of office.
Ijumu Local Government has always risen to the occasion, at any time it was confronted with daunting security challenges. As the
Executive Chairman,I thought outside the box and adopted new strategies in combating criminal activities, including Fulani/Farmers clashes, kidnapping, banditry, cultism and other criminal vices.Today, relative peace has been
restored to our dear Local Government.
This administration has put together developmental plans for the Local
Government. We shall, relentlessly, pursue the development of human resources and infrastructures within the limited resources
available to our Government.
The welfare of Ijumu people is also paramount in the agenda of our government.
We shall strive to improve the well being of the people by carrying outempowerment programmes for our youth and women.
This administration will also provide succor in education, agriculture and health care. We shall ensure that our people enjoy the dividends
All the above plans can only be achieved in an
environment of peace and understanding.
The relationship between Ijumu Local Goverment and our Party Executive Committees at all levels willremain cordial, without compromising the powers bestowed on the Local Government by the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other extant regulations.
We will not under any circumstance betray the
trust of the people, while we maintain high level of integrity in governance.
We urge faithful membersof the party and all who mean well for this administration, in particular and Ijumu Local Government Area, in general, to disregard the unprovoked assault to the constitution of our party by acts of recklessness displayed by disgruntled few (four members) out of twenty seven (27) Local Government Executive Committee members.
They are not only ignorant of the provisions of the constitution of our party, but misinformed and misguided. The group progressed in error, out of greed, covetousness, desperation, malice, and wicked thirst for the destruction of the good works and reputation of this government.
We are aware of the antics of the sponsors of the few Local Government Executive
members and their cohorts. Their sponsors are politicians who have failed in their efforts to impose their selfish agenda on ourpeople and has, consequently, resolved to constitute themselves into divisive and destabilizing agents.
They have worked tirelessly to make Ijumu
Local Government Area ungovernable to satisfy their unending greed. I assure you that they will fail to the extent of their devilish thoughts and activities.
I affirm our party’s set up, which recognizes the leadership of the President at the Federal Level, the Governor at the State Level and the Executive Chairman at the Local Government
Level. I will not allow a few disgruntled members, who have placed greed over
integrity and reasoning, to disrupt the smooth and harmonious running of our government and party.
We urge those of them who are willing to repent and tow the line of peace to listen to wise counsel and join other faithful members
of the party to work for the realization of the
Presidential ambition of our Pragmatic Leader, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello. Any effort channeled towards creating disaffections to frustrate this agenda will be resisted, no matter how highly placed the person may be.
I urge all faithful members of the party to remain calm and go about their normal activities as those who want
to destabilize the party are in negligible minority
I assure you all that their unprovoked attack on me,the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Councilhas failed. Their purported suspension of Alhaji Taufiq Isa is, at best, an effort in futility, a nullity, senseless, waste of time, idle talk, a mirage, desperation taken too far and a dream in afool’s paradise.
Thank you all.
Alhaji Taufiq Isa,
Ijumu Local Government
Council,Kogi State ALGON
Chairman and The National Legal Adviser
