Kogi MIREMCO Boss Advocates Renewed Support For Mining Stakeholders

Chairman of Kogi State Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO), Hajiya Hassiat Ozavize Suleiman has advocated sustainable empowerment of stakeholders in Nigeria
mining sector in order to actualise the delivery template of both state and federal governments.

The call was made yesterday during a stakeholders’ meeting intended to formalise artisanal and small-scale
mining clusters and also formal launch of North-Central gold processing plant in the state.

While lauding the unwavering commitment of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in resuscitation of small
and medium scale enterprise in the state, Hajiya Hassiat expressed excitement over the choice of Kogi
State as centre for gold processing in the North-Central.

She further added that the Confluence State became undisputable choice for the gold processing hub as a result of availability of natural resources in commercial quantities, firm political will and commitment of Governor Bello towards ensuring enduring peace and
security in the state.

The MIREMCO boss informed participants of her committee’s commitment to harnessing artisanal and small scale section of mining sector, just as she
revealed that no fewer than 50 clusters comprising women and youths has already been registered to further enhance job creation drive of the present
administration.

However, the chairman highlighted paucity of fund as one of the challenges facing the committee and made an appeal to the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development to include MIREMCO in its annual budget.

The event was attended by Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Edward David Onoja, who represented Governor
Yahaya Bello, top government functionaries and stakeholders in the mining sector. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade and her team were also present.
