Nigeria says it is in talks with Egypt to see if there are any areas where the two nations can work together to increase power generation in Nigeria.

This was said by Abubakar Aliyu, Minister of Power, during a visit by Egyptian Ambassador Ihab Awad to Nigeria on Tuesday.

“You mentioned that you were successful in resolving Egypt’s power situation.

Which is an intriguing development because, as an ambassador to Nigeria, you have been here for a while and are aware of how we are dealing with this problem in our country,” Mr Aliyu added.

“You mentioned President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with Egypt’s President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi; this is crucial, and it will benefit us.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is extremely worried about the issue of power, and he will not back down.

“We’ll get together and make sure you get some feedback from us,” the minister stated.

Both parties agreed, Mr. Awad told the minister, that “there was a need for coordination between your administration and our country in the area of revitalising and renewing electricity generating.”
