The Chairman of the Adavi LG empowers the family of a little orphan who attempted suicide.

Hon. Salami Omuya Joseph, chairman of the Adavi local government council in Kogi state, has pledged to support and empower Abdulrasheed Lamidi, a young orphan who attempted suicide twice due to frustrations.

Abdulrasheed Lamidi, who is in his mid-twenties and was raised by his grandmother, a petty trader, after losing both parents at a young age, attempted suicide on September 9th, 2021.

Yunusa Lamidi, Abdulrasheed’s younger brother, was alarmed when he returned home and discovered Abdulrasheed had swallowed a poisonous substance. Neighbors rushed him to the hospital. He made it out alive.

Abdulraheed made the same attempt a day after his recovery but failed as neighbours around Kabba Junction in Adavi LGA came to his rescue, and rushed him to the hospital, again.

The chairman of the Adavi LG paid him a visit in the hospital and paid for his medical expenditures. The Council Boss invited AbdulRasheed to his office on Friday, a few days after he was discharged, to find out the reasons for the suicide attempts.

Abdul Rasheed said he was tired of living in pain with no chance of a better tomorrow because he couldn’t even help his younger brother continue his education after completing basic school.

Hon. Salami was moved by his story and promised to help the unhappy young man as well as other members of his family, including his grandmother, younger brother, uncle, and wife.

He announced that he would take over the boy’s and other sibling’s responsibilities, immediately provided cash to AbdulRasheed’s grandmother, registered AbdulRasheed with a standard fashion house with professionally advanced tailors, and encouraged him to learn quickly because his government would provide him with all the necessary equipment to stand on his own.

Also, as soon as the new session began, the Council Chairman agreed to enroll Yunusa, the younger brother, in secondary school.

The favored family could not hold back tears of joy as they prayed for Governor Yahaya Bello who supported the emergence of Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami as the Executive Chairman of Adavi local government and also prayed Allah to continue to guide, guard and uplift their benefactor.

The Lamidis are indigenes of Adavi LGA.
